Use dribbling and passing to create a shot. Start with steady passes and close-range shots rather than difficult long-range attempts.
App recording formats: 5-player
Your goal
Use dribbling and passing to create a shot. Start with steady passes and close-range shots rather than difficult long-range attempts.
Key terms
Dribble: move while bouncing the ball. Pivot: turn around one planted foot. Rebound: gain the ball after a missed shot. Foul: illegal contact or another rule violation.
Key rules · official rules and app defaults
App defaults follow a FIBA 2024-based 5-player model: four 10-minute quarters, 5-minute overtime and free-throw, 2-point and 3-point scoring. This describes app settings, not a guarantee of compliance with every official rule. The official FIBA document edition and contents were checked, but the full detailed provisions were not obtained. Check travelling, double dribbling and fouls with a coach and the official text.
Equipment and safety
Use shoes with grip and a ball suited to your size. Remove rings and do not step under a landing player. Warm up fingers and ankles and stop after a collision.
Your first practice
Slowly practise low stationary dribbling, two-handed chest passes and close-range shots. Learn to stop safely before increasing movement speed.
Your first match
Agree on teams, attacking direction, duration and a person to explain fouls. In a short practice match, move into space after passing and say the scoring type together.
Recording in the app and its limits
Select the 5-player format and starting method. Choose free throw, 2 points or 3 points correctly and check the quarter and score. Record fouls and timeouts after the actual call.
Common beginner mistakes
Entering every shot as the same score: check the shot location and free-throw status. Restarting a dribble after stopping: pivot or pass. Pushing for a rebound: establish a safe position.
Coach script · demonstration · check understanding
Explain: “First learn to protect the ball and stop.” Demonstrate: stop a low dribble and pass. Short practice: link dribble, stop and pass. Check: “Are a free throw and a long-range shot recorded with the same button?” Feedback: “Stable stop. Look for the receiver next time.”
