App recording formats: 9-player

Your goal

After batting, run the bases to reach home; on defence, stop opponents advancing. Start with safe throwing, catching and understanding the batting order.

Key terms

Inning: a unit in which both teams bat and field. Plate appearance: a batter’s turn. Out: a ruling that removes an offensive opportunity. Ball and strike: pitch calls. Runner: an offensive player advancing around the bases.

Key rules · official rules and app defaults

The app has a 9-player, default 9-inning model for pitches, plate appearances and runner movement. Publication of the WBSC 2025–2026 rules was confirmed, but the complete provisions were not obtained. Check the strike zone, outs, advancement, ties and club mercy rules with the umpire and competition rules before playing. App defaults are not universal competition rules.

Equipment and safety

Use gloves, batting helmets and catcher protection. Swing a bat only in the designated area after checking nobody is nearby. Beginners should start with softer balls and shorter distances.

Your first practice

Rehearse a throw without a ball, play short-distance catch, try tee batting and walk the base route. Aim safely at the receiver’s chest rather than throwing hard.

Your first match

Confirm batting order, fielding positions, innings and the time limit. Wait for the umpire’s play signal. Listen to the coach after reaching base and keep well clear of the batting area when walking around it.

Recording in the app and its limits

Choose 9-player and check the lineup and batting order. Confirm the current pitcher and batter, record the pitch or plate-appearance result, then compare outs, runners and runs. A score-only match is not a complete individual statistics record.

Common beginner mistakes

Finalising runners before the play ends: wait for the umpire. Confusing batting order with fielding position: check separately. Throwing toward someone nearby: wait for the receiver’s ready signal.

Coach script · demonstration · check understanding

Explain: “Throw only when the receiver is ready.” Demonstrate: spot the glove target and throw gently. Short practice: play close-range catch, then walk the bases. Check: “Why check runner positions after entering the batting result?” Feedback: “Good attention to the ready signal. Use less force for accuracy.”
